You can estimate what you will need to get on subsequent tests in order to obtain a desired average AVE, by using the
following equation:
Math 148: .36*max(T1,T2)+.6*(sum of 3 highest quizzes)+.24*F+.22*H = AVE (Q's counted on basis of 0 to 10)
Math 151: .18*(T1+T2)+.6*(Q1+Q2+Q3)+.26*F+H+M = AVE (Q's, H & M counted on basis of 0 to 10)
Math 251,333 & 402: .27*(T1+T2)+.36*F+.10*H = AVE
Note to students: On my exams, you are responsible for examples done in class as well as
homework problems.
All homework assignments for 100 and 200 level courses are on webassign
Homework Instructions for 300 and 400 Level Math Courses
Weekly assignments will be given each Wednesday or Friday and will be due at the beginning of class on the
following Monday. All problems
submitted will be graded on the basis of 0, .5 or 1. The weekly grade will be the fraction of correct answers out of the maximum possible for that week. The final grade will be the percent correct out of
the maximum possible score. Please make sure that the assignment for the
Monday
prior to the test is graded and returned in time for me to distribute it to the students by at least the
Friday before the test.
Math 148
The grading system is as follows:
- two tests which count 20% each
- four quizzes which count 5% each
- a final exam which counts 25%
- homework which counts 15%
