Module 4: Creating, designing and applying a Master Page
This module teaches you how to create, design, and apply a Master Page.
Master Page
A Master Page is like a template. It has a standard layout that you can apply to any or all of the pages in your Online Manual. You may want to create a Master Page if you want any or all of the pages in your Online Manual to look the same or similar.
To create a Master Page, follow the steps below:
- Go to the Project Manager pod on the upper left hand corner of the screen.
- Click the Project set-up panel (second panel at the bottom of the Project Manager pod.
The Project set-up panel appears.- Click the Create a new Master Page icon (last icon to the left at the top of the panel).
A New Master Page box appears.- Type in Master Page 1 as the name of your Master Page.
- Go to the Appearance tab to apply your style sheet to your Master Page.
- Click on First Style Sheet, then OK.
Your Master Page 1 template appears to the right of the Project set-up panel. A default layout of a Master Page only contains a body placeholder. This is why you do not see a section for the header that you styled in your style sheet (with the white text on a black background). You need to follow additional steps to add your header with the style applied.
