Module 5: Creating and applying User Defined Variables and Snippets
This module teaches you how to create User Defined Variables and Snippets.
User Defined Variables
User Defined Variables are static content that is stored in the system that can be reused throughout your project. For example, you may want your school’s logo to appear on each page of your Online Manual. In this case, you can create a variable entitled school logo and set a value for that logo. The value can be text, an image, or other content. Once you have created your variable and assigned a value to it, you can insert your variable into any page in your Online Manual that you like, rather than having to re-create your school’s logo for every page.
To create a User Defined Variable, follow the steps below:
- Click the User Defined Variable panel at the bottom of the screen.
A User Defined Variable box appears.- Click the Create a new User Defined Variable icon (icon to the left of the box).
A New Variable box appears.- Type in the Variable name, school logo, inside of the variable name box. Leave the variable value box empty, the click OK.
