"I never grew up," Peter Johnson stated, casually sitting back in his desk chair. Simply looking at his office confirmed his statement. A variety of sports equipment littered his shelves and three pairs of skis occupied a corner. Chemistry class proved to be no different. Aside from off the wall chemistry jokes, Prof. Johnson managed to create an explosion that knocked five tiles off of the ceiling onto unsuspecting students seated in the front row. To make matters worse, a small fire resulted. Prof. Johnson calls himself the "professor's brat" due to his lineage of science professors. |
He began at IIT in 1976 as an Associate Professor, became the Director of the Educational Technology Center in 1985, and received the title of Dean of Undergraduate Affairs in 1988. He believes that students should never give up even when things seem bad. They should look for alternate ways to alleviate their problems. Prof. Johnson has a son of 16 years who looks forward to going to IIT as a civil engineering major. He also has a daughter of 17 years. Being such a kid a heart, Prof. Johnson has no trouble relating with students. |
He really enjoys being surrounded by the hard working, goal oriented students here at III although the first row of chemistry class might not think so. |
