Dr. Matthew A. Shapiro is an Assistant Professor of Political Science. He was trained in political science, economics, and public policy at the University of California at San Diego (B.A.) and the University of Southern California (M.A. & Ph.D). He also earned an M.A. in Korean Studies at Yonsei University’s Graduate School of International Studies in Seoul, having won a Woojung Scholarship to study there. Dr. Shapiro has published several peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters on public-private collaboration on R & D (research and development) in Northeast Asia. Before completing his dissertation in Los Angeles and coming to Chicago and IIT, Prof. Shapiro served as an instructor in the Department of Economics at California State University at Long Beach during the 2006-07 academic year. He teaches courses in research methods, public policy, political economy, and Asian politics for the Department of Social Sciences. |
