LyX Exercise

Start the LyX editor program. From the menu, select the following
Help --> Tutorial      this opens the tutorial
View --> PDF (ps2pdf) produces a PDF of this tutorial in a viewer

Work through the tutorial, then complete the following assignment:

  1. Choose a homework problem from your physics or calculus course (ask me for approval first).
  2. Use TGIF to make a figure for the problem and "print" it as an EPS file (If you don't know what EPS is, look it up!).
  3. Write the solution using LyX.
    • Write all of the equations and try numbering and cross-referencing them in your solution.
    • Write the solution in expository terms, as if you were explaining it in a solution manual for the book.
    • Use the "article" style and include the figure (with caption as an EPS file).
  4. Export your solution as a PDF file and place it in the Blackboard Digital Dropbox for PHYS 100.
