The Scientific Method is a seven step plan that establishes the guidelines for the project. It is the method that allows scientist use an orderly and acceptable way to prove or disprove theories.
PURPOSE: To meet the needs of students of grades 4-8 aiding in the preparation of a Science Fair Project a required assignment to meet approximately more than 50% of student's grade for 2nd marking period. To develop and enhance the student's awareness through scientific experimentation.
GRADES: 4-8
OBJECTIVE: STATE GOAL 11/ CAS-A-C / CFS

THE SCIENTIFIC METHOD
STEPS
PURPOSE:
Identifies a problem, states what the experimenter wants to find
out
HYPOTHESIS: Predicts the
answer to the problem
MATERIALS: Lists the materials
used in the experiment
PROCEDURES: Describe the steps
of
the experiments in chronological order
RESULTS: Describes what
happened
as a result of the experiment; displays the data in the form of tables,
charts, or graphs
CONCLUSIONS: State what was learned as a result of the experiment

TIPS: EVERY SCIENCE FAIR PROJECT SHOULD CONTAIN THE FOLLOWING COMPONENTS:

2. INVESTIGATION, DEMONSTRATION, OR MODEL
3. THE EXPERIMENT WRITE-UP AND RESEARCH REPORT
